Ben is honored to be a frequent contributor to some of the largest recording projects in New York City: music albums, broadway cast recordings, film scores, jazz big-band records, and more. He firmly believes that making great recordings is a collaboration which demands more than mere technical expertise and therefore tries to embody an empathy, curiosity, and compassion which will nurture his client’s most memorable performances. His further abilities as a classical singer and instrumentalist (piano, clarinet, pennywhistle) are thankfully reserved for demonstration purposes only. As an engineer, Ben has participated on one Grammy-nominated project; as an assistant, he is credited on four wins and eleven nominations.
Miller’s education can be traced back through the musical tapestry of New York City from the legendary Power Station through the incomparable 2nd Story Sound to the inimitable Electric Lady Studios. While the product of an entire community of exceptional engineers, he specifically blames Ian Kagey and Scott Lehrer as his finest mentors. Miller earned a Bachelor of Music magna cum laude in Sound Recording Technology as a voice principal from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where he proudly still remains involved with the campus radio station: WUML, Lowell.
In addition to freelancing as an engineer, pro tools operator, and studio technician, Ben is currently serving as the Technical Manager at Power Station, where he is also a staff engineer.
